Chapter One (4 Songs) is the debut album of Helene Augustine, the musical persona for the visual artist Jennifer Meridian, who is based in Pittsburgh, PA. Inspired by the real Helene Augustine, born in 1901 in Austin Texas and Jenn's great-great-aunt. Helene died at the age of 18 in the year 1919 and has been a motivating spirit to Jenn since she first discovered the little photo album that had all but been forgotten in her aunt's house. Jenn has been singing and writing songs since she was a teen, but never gave it a formal structure and also has serious performance anxiety! So this is a form to hold this work. This is a combination of queer art performance and ballad and poetry and stream of consciousness work. This first EP was mixed and mastered and recorded by Madeleine Campbell of Accessible Recording in Pittsburgh, PA in January 2018. The debut event will take place at The Glitter Box Theater in Pittsburgh on May 28 with other Sweethearts including Dylan Angell, based in NYC.
